L'art pour l'art

Welcome to Art for Art's Sake (l'art pour l'art).
The aim of this service, is to create an online presence for artists in Ireland today and to provide a wider audience with access to the work of talented artists.

In a nutshell:
The review contains critical and discursive writings on contemporary exhibitions in Dublin and opinion pieces that will be updated weekly.
Once a month an up-and-coming/established artist will be selected and given an online solo exhibition. Here you will find a virtual gallery showcasing a selection of work by the selected artist. Remember to check back frequently to see what creative talent has been uncovered!
As there are so many fantastically talented artists working in Ireland, it is important that as many of these as possible will appear in the 'featured artists' page. There you can find the work of and information on the artists. The work is for sale (where applicable) and artists are also available to take commissions! If you see a particular style of photography/painting etc by one of the artists that you are interested in and want to commission a piece then fill in the contact form (on the contact page) and you will be put in contact with the artist.
Another service offered by Art for Art's Sake, is a walking art tour of Dublin. This will be a day of artistic refreshment, a visual snack, visiting galleries from the established to the grass root and giving a view of the art scene in Dublin.
The
'featured galleries' page contains information on galleries that are included in the art tour.

If you have any queries, questions or would like to book a place on the art tour, please do not hesitate to fill out the contact form or leave a comment on the blog.
Enjoy!

A little bit about me

_ My name is Jennette Donnelly. Since graduating from IADT with a BA (hons) in Visual Arts Practices, I co-founded and was acting Chairperson (2009-2011) of Ormond Studios, an artist led space comprising of 10 artists from Dun Laoghaire IADT, DIT and NCAD. I have completed internships with IMOCA and La Catedral and have worked with Tallaght hospital and the IWA. I was also a guest lecturer in IADT regarding 'setting yourself up after college'. I lectured in Ormond Studios on the same topic during 'Practice', a seminar I co-facilitated aimed at artists and recent graduates. I co-facilitated a graduate programme in Ormond Studios in which we provided four graduates (IADT, DIT, NCAD, Crawford College of Art) with a studio residency and a solo show in Ormond Studios. Through my projects I strive to impart information, guidance and learning to those interested! Since leaving college I found that the resources and opportunities for artists are highly limited and in order to create an opportunity an individual must be highly motivated and informed. I am passionate about creating a centre where all creative practices are encouraged and encouraging the up-skilling and development of recent graduates and emerging artists.
